Blurb:

The only difference between fate and destiny is choice.

Tsu Halan, Guardian defense master, has honed his skills and waited patiently over the centuries for the covenant’s promise of a mate to share his soul and a family to cherish. Close enough to taste fulfillment, the dark echoes of the past threaten with danger and death.

Jai Dashkov harbors her own painful secrets of harsh betrayal and tender loss. Her desperate search to reclaim her life doesn’t allow room in her heart to deviate for love.

Together they are stronger than apart, but the promise of the covenant is a perpetual test. One that Tsu and Jai must conquer in time or suffer an eternity for their failure.

THE GUARDIANS OF EDEN:

A race of beings created in a Sanctum at the far edge of Eden. Co-existing with mankind, they safeguarded human souls and the promise of eternity—until a virus killed all over the age of eighteen. The surviving children fled to the Sanctum for protection, children raising children without the full legacy of their history and knowledge. Two hundred years of solitude have produced a race of semi-immortals fortified with powers and intellect but lacking the mates who will make them whole and allow them to fulfill their covenant with mankind.

My Thoughts

This is NOT a YA book... You've been warned.

Destiny's Mark is book 3 of the Guardians of Eden and although I haven't read the previous books in the series since you can read each book (so far) all by its lonesome, I got a pretty good idea of what the main story-line running through the series is.

KH LeMoyne is good at descriptive storytelling. She adds many details to her story, without being it too many, and that made it easier to "see" what was happening while I was reading. I always love that in a book. The story is also told in a steady, not too slow, pace. I liked that. However, I would have liked to see Tsu use his martial arts expertise more. I felt the few "action" scenes in the book went by in a blur and just when I was starting to think "Let's get ready to rumble!" the part would end.

Once I have more time, and need a break from the usual YA trap I get myself into, I will go back and read the other two books before this one. My rating for this book is 3 out of 5.

The Tao of Love

My favorite definition for the term Tao is ‘the art or skill of doing something in harmony.’ I’ve extrapolated on that term in Destiny’s Mark to cover the fundamental way men and women choose to woo each other, a path of deliberate and sensual exploration that touches the heart and soul as much as it heightens attraction.

And wooing is exactly what is on Tsu Halan’s mind. As a man well past his two hundred year mark, he’s had plenty of time to consider ways to render adoration for the woman whose soul will bond with his. Imagine all that time planning, researching, considering, and all while knowing nothing more of the person than that they will be your only chance at happiness for a lifetime. Ironically, it isn’t first sight that confirms for Tsu that Jai Dashkov is his mate. He rescues her from falling in front of a moving bus, grabbing her from behind. It is the call of her heartbeat, the scent of her skin, and the emotional pull that instantly claim his attention. It only takes exposure to her generous heart and determination to seal his attraction.

From that first second, Tsu instigates his pursuit with patience and persistent steps. The Guardian defense master utilizes every trick in the book to connect with Jai’s spiritual and physical center. I do mean a literal book. He employs the use of the book The Nights of Ten Thousand Pleasures to tempt his mate into practicing sensual arousal. The book revolves around an ancient tale of a queen who rejects all her suitors after only one night of their company. Her fiercest warrior desires her for his own but is unwilling to be rejected so quickly. Instead, he negotiates with the woman of his heart to deliver her ten thousand pleasures, each different from the last. If she is bored with him before that time, he will leave her kingdom forever. If she enjoys each pleasure to the end, then she will take him as her consort.

Tsu doesn’t actually need the book to show Jai how much her heart and acceptance mean to him. He is tenacious in his efforts. Beguiled and empowered by his persistence, Jai ultimately has the courage to try a few approaches of her own. Between sensual massage, the aromatic stimuli of scents and oils, and the allure of gentle touch, these two push the boundaries of showing their emotions to each other in ways that will linger in each other’s memories and ultimately bind their hearts.

The underlying nature of love is reached, ying and yang achieved with a seduction of the senses that leaves the soul humming. What better way to reach happy ever after?
