(Goodreads Review) Enigma by Christine Fonseca

EnigmaEnigma by Christine Fonseca

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It feels like forever since I last entered Christine Fonseca's Requiem world, but it's finally back!

As always, Christine's gift for excellent storytelling pulled me right into the narrator's mind. This time I got to experience the Requiem world from Lorelei's point of view and I have to say it was quite a journey. Enigma is filled with the characteristic heart-wrenching, nerve-wrecking storytelling I have come to expect, and love, in her books. It was definitely a great and welcomed addition to the story.

Cursed by H.M. Ward Review

Synopsis (Good Reads):
Ivy's on her way to kick ass and save Collin from the horrors of the Underworld. Along the way she discovers that the truth won't set her free. Deep-seated deception leads Ivy closer to her destiny. But, being queen of the demons is not the destiny she wants. Ivy will have to overcome lust, power, and love if she wants to survive.
..........................
I will admit I wasn't crazy about the beginning of the first book. I'll also admit if it hadn't gotten so good and engaging towards the end I wouldn't have read this one. And that would have been a shame because I would have missed out on reading one of the best books ever.

Cursed is engaging and well written. The story has likable and unlikable characters and it's so action filled that you just can't put it down. At the beginning, I thought the story was a bit slow. Not bad and not boring, just a little slow. But if reading Demon Kissed taught me anything I knew what was coming; action and twist filled pages. I wasn't disappointed. A few events caught me by surprise (in a good way) which is always a good and welcomed thing.

I'm anticipating where the story will take me to next, especially after what happened with Eric and Collin.

Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

“Why hadn't I read this before?" That was the first thought that entered my mind as soon as I finished the book. I loved the adventured filled world Veronica Roth created in Divergent. It's definitely one of my favorites this year.

I liked Tris. I didn't love her, but she sincerely made me like her and that's not something every YA “heroine" manages to do. But as much as I liked her, I would have liked to see her struggle a bit more throughout the story in terms of her initiation. On the other hand, I had a love-hate relationship with Four. Sometimes I loved him and the things he did and others he just seemed bland and unexciting. But at the end, I decided I just loved him, even with all his flaws.

The story was fast paced and adventure filled (but I've already mentioned that before). When I'm reading a book, more times that I'd care to admit, even when I end up loving the it, there's a moment when I always think “Something happen... Now... Soon... Please?". That did not happen with Divergent since there isn't an idle moment in it.

Yes, I do realize the book is not perfect. Like sometimes I felt some of the characters where too uni-dimensional and I could care less what happened with them. But the thing is, I wasn't looking for perfection. I was looking for entertainment and this book gave it to me.

Mea Culpa Review

Mea Culpa (Requiem Series, #1.5).Mea Culpa (Requiem Series, #1.5). by Christine Fonseca

I had told myself to wait until just before LIBERA ME was released, but this is told from Zane's point of view, so I couldn't resist the temptation of taking a little peek which led to me reading the whole story.

Review:
Living with a guilty conscience is a terrible thing. It sometimes leads people to make decisions they would never have otherwise because they think they owe something to the other person they feel has been wronged by their actions. Zane lived with that kind of guilt, even if he thought he had forgotten it with the passing of the centuries. Zane is my favorite character in the Requiem series and this story told me just why he is. He has so many layers to him, I can't help but want to explore each one of them.

I couldn't help but feel angry when Mikayel had asked that of him just because of his own guilt and shame and I wish Zane hadn't done what he did because to be honest I don't feel Nesy was worth his sacrifice.

My only complaint is the story was too short and I wanted more of Zane! I loved watching the story unfold through his eyes.
