2013 Genre Variety Reading Challenge

In 2013, I'll be participating in the 2013 Genre Variety Reading Challenge which will be hosted over at A Daydreamer's Thoughts. Are you wondering what the challenge is about? Well, Faye explains it better than I could, so I'll leave you to read the instructions below.

● ● ● ● ● ●

Taken from A Daydreamer's Thoughts

The challenge is to read books from different genres throughout the year. I have found that blogging has opened my eyes to so many genres that I would never have tried before, simply from recommendations, and the idea of this challenge is to keep that going. The challenge is to read a large variety of genres within one year.

Levels;

Careful; 6 different genres, 6 books
Cautious; 12 different genres, 12 books
Branching; 18 different genres, 18 books
Avid Reader; 24 different genres, 24 books
Champion; 30 different genres, 30 books

Categories;

This is just a list of the vast variety of genres you have to choose from. I have probably missed a lot, so feel free to branch off from this. These are just suggestions.

Contemporary ● Historical ● Paranormal ● Fantasy ● Romance ● Sci-Fi ● Crime ● Thriller ● Adventure ● Non-Fiction ● Women’s Fiction ● Chick-Lit ● Dystopian ● Epic Fantasy ● Western ● Comedy ● Horror ● MANfiction ● Self-Help ● Biography ● Auto-biography ● Religious ● Fairy Tales ● Classics ● Erotica ● Short Stories ● Travel Guides ● Mystery ● Suspence

I also found this website with more book genres.

● ● ● ● ● ●

If you wish to join the fun and come out of your comfort zone, go check out the complete information about the challenge HERE.

I have set my goal to Level 3 or the "Branching" (18 different genres, 18 books) level. Which level are you choosing?

Cover Reveal: Trapped by Ella James

Welcome to the Trapped by Ella James cover reveal!

Description (Beware the description CONTAINS SPOILERS - DO NOT READ BEFORE READING HERE):

When Milo Mitchell falls for the beautiful, tuxedo-clad guy she found wandering her family's rural Colorado property, she never dreamed he was a scout from another galaxy, or that their relationship would leave him with an impossible choice: eradicating humankind, or initiating the end of his own people.

Nick's job is finding the elements his people need to power their elaborate interweb of minds. Being a scout means he is capable of traveling to other planets on his own. It also means that, unlike The Rest, he has access to primitive feelings and individual desires. For eons, he was part of the whole, but when he encountered Milo, his obsession with her changed everything.

Nick's partner, Vera, is capable of independent thought, but not compelled by it. She is satisfied with her existence as one of The Rest, and she won't agree that humans are worth sparing; not when their planet has a precious cache of the gold her people need so badly.

While Vera tries to force Nick into endorsing an Earth invasion, working behind the scenes to tie his hands, and the Department of Defense lays a trap for them with Milo's mom as bait, Nick and Milo are waging their own war - against a primal desire that can only lead to one thing: heartbreak.

Trapped is book 2 in the Here Trilogy and it will be released on December 2012!!

Soon Caleb realizes he has stepped into the middle of a growing conflict between two ancient groups. Review: Snow White Blood Red by Cameron Jace

Title: Snow White Blood Red
Series: The Grimm Diaries Prequels #1
Author: Cameron Jace
Pub. Date: May 29th 2012

Blurb:
What if all you knew about fairy tales was wrong?

Book description of Snow White Blood Red: A Grimm Diaries Prequel as told by the Snow White Queen:

I have always wondered why you never asked about my name. Was I so superficial to you? So stereotypical and mundane? Why did you treat me as if I were just the monster of the week? You know what I think? You never had the time to really hate me. You wanted to hate me, long before you even met me. You wanted to scrape my existence and avenge your childhood princess by laying all blame on me. What if they didn’t call me the Evil Queen, what if I told you the real story from my point of view instead of hers, would you ever think of me as an angel? Could I ever make you care? I know that deep inside of you, you adore me,but you’re just scared, afraid to admit how much you love the Snow White Queen.

This Grimm Diaries Prequels are a number of short books in the form of epistolary diary entries. The diaries are more of teasers for the upcoming series: The Grimm Diaries, allowing you to get a glimpse of what to expect of the series.
