My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It feels like forever since I last entered Christine Fonseca's Requiem world, but it's finally back!

As always, Christine's gift for excellent storytelling pulled me right into the narrator's mind. This time I got to experience the Requiem world from Lorelei's point of view and I have to say it was quite a journey. Enigma is filled with the characteristic heart-wrenching, nerve-wrecking storytelling I have come to expect, and love, in her books. It was definitely a great and welcomed addition to the story.

About the author:

Intisar Khanani grew up a nomad and world traveler. Born in Wisconsin, she has lived in five different states as well as in Jeddah on the coast of the Red Sea. She first remembers seeing snow on a wintry street in Zurich, Switzerland, and vaguely recollects having breakfast with the orangutans at the Singapore Zoo when she was five. She currently resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her husband and two young daughters.

Until recently, Intisar wrote grants and developed projects to address community health with the Cincinnati Health Department, which was as close as she could get to saving the world. Now she focuses her time on her two passions: raising her family and writing fantasy. Her approach to writing reflects her lifelong love for stories from different cultures. Her next project is a companion trilogy to her debut novel Thorn, with Rae as her new heroine.

Mini Review

Title: Shadow Days (Nightshade, #0.5)
Author: Andrea Cremer

I'm thinking of starting the series soon, so I decided to read this first.

I like the way Andrea Cremer writes and, at the beginning, the narration of the story through Shay's PoV (who doesn't seem to be very well liked by some of the other readers and now I want to know why because he seems likable enough in this) pulled me in.

At some point, the story becomes too rushed and that kind of broke the spell I was in. This can be especially seen in the last part of it. I didn't feel a sense of urgency because of the immediate danger he was in or desperation, not even the shock he mentions while trying to get away.

My Soul to Lose by Rachel Vincent

I downloaded this for free here on GR.

This is the first story I have read from this author and I have to say that she has a way with words. The way she writes seems to make everything come to life right before my eyes while I read. I couldn't help but feel like I was one of those people in Sears watching Kaylee go into her screaming fit.

This prequel piece is the perfect way to start the series. And I definitely enjoyed it and was intrigued enough to want to read the first book. I hope the rest of the series is just as good.
